Charged : Joseph Smith
The Sarasota Police Department and the FDLE canceled the Amber Alert
Friday morning February 6, after finding her body. Authorities have
charged Joseph Smith in the girl's kidnapping and death.
The Sarasota Police Department and the FDLE issued the Amber Alert
Monday afternoon February 2, after a security video showed the girl
being forcibly lead from a car wash on Sunday afternoon.
She is a white female, 11 yrs., 5', 120 lbs, with blond hair
and blue eyes
was apparently abducted from a car wash in Sarasota Florida
on Sunday
afternoon February 1. She was last seen wearing a red shirt,
blue jeans
and might be carrying a pink backpack.
The suspect is a white man in his late 20s or 30s with dark hair.
He was
wearing some type of uniform shirt.
Sarasota police issued the Amber Alert on Monday afternoon after
a
security video showed the man apparently forcing the girl to
leave the
area with him.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Sarasota PD at (941)
861-4260 or dial 911.

According to NISMART 2, there are nearly 800,000 children reported
missing each year (more than 2,000 per day). 58,200
children are abducted by nonfamily members. 115 children are
the victims of the most serious, most long-term abductions
(stereotypical kidnappings), of which 56% are recovered alive,
40% are killed. 203,900 children are the victims of family abductions.
